(二)短文Short Passages
在四级听力测试中，短文部分共有3篇文章，语速为每分钟120-160个单词。每篇文章后附3～4个问题，共10个问题。每个问题后有4个选项，两个问题的间隔是15秒，要求考生根据所听录音，从4个选项中选出最佳答案。短文的题材涉及面较广，包括历史地理、新闻报道、文化教育、风土人情、医学科技、人物传记等；文章的体裁不外乎叙述文Narration、说明文Exposition和议论文Argumentation3种。叙述文是一种写人记事的纪实文章。这种文体一般首先点明人物、事件、时间和地点，然后叙述事件的原因、过程和结果。短文后面所设计的问题多由when，where，who，what，why和how来提问。说明文是说明事物的文章。这种文体主要解释说明事物的性质、特征、状态、构成等。议论文是分析事理、阐明作者观点和主张的文章，常用逻辑论证和逻辑推理的方法来说明某个观点或主张。后两种文体往往在文章的开头一般是文章的第一句话概括全文的主题 思想 。
短文部分是四级听力测试中难度较大的部分，它要求考生在大概3分钟的时间里听完一篇短文，并且要听懂文章大意，记住并理解文章中的具体细节，然后在15秒钟内针对所提问题，选出正确答案。因此，考生若想更好地理解短文部分，并在这一部分测试中取得好成绩，除了要具备扎实的语言基础，掌握丰富的语言知识外，还须掌握正确的听音技巧和解题方法。
1、了解并熟悉提问方式。在听力测试短文部分，就文章内容所提问题主要有3种情况，其提问方式分别如下：
