this picture was taken on my way to cover the mermaid day parade, a procession of mermaids, magicians, street entertainers, and performance artists held every june in coney island to herald the summer solstice. i caught this scene with the blow-up legs coming out of the vintage car a few blocks from the starting point of the parade and somehow knew it was going to be another interesting day in new york!
