Nowadays, we can see more and more motorcycles on the streets in big cities.

Some people ride motorcycles to go to work. Others use them like taxis as tra
nsportation tools. They make a living by carrying passengers between short dista
nces. Some people regard motorcycles as the symbol of the quick improvement of
people’s living standards. But some people dislike them. I think the motorcy
cle has both its advantages and disadvantages.
Its advantages are, that first of all, it is not so expensive as a car, bu
t it runs as fast as a car. Second, since it can take people to their destinatio
n along a narrow path or lane, people like to ride or take it. It provides conve
nient service. Furthermore, it occupies much less parking space than a car. What
is more, traffic jam has no effect on motorcycles.
However, due to its high speed, a motorcycle is more likely to cause a ser
ious traffic accident. The riders often run the risk of losing their lives. Comp
ared with taxis, they are more dangerous both to the riders and the pedestrians.
Besides, it produces loud noises and pollutes the air compared with bikes.
In spite of its shortcomings, the motorcycle offers people much convenienc
e. I think it has a bright future, and it will become popular as a common transp
ortation means in cities in a few years.

In recent years, tourism has become a boom industry in our country. People are t
rying their best to explore their touring resources and to attract more tourists
. I think there are good reasons for the development of tourism in our country.
First, obviously it enhances the development of hotels and shopping facilities,
which, in turn, creates jobs for local people. It also creates a large market fo
r famous products of the local places. Since visitors are especially fond of spe
cialties of the resorts, some new industries develop rapidly to meet the demands
. As a result, it brings prosperity to the regions.
Second, the arrival of visitors always results in the improvements in the local
transportation devices such as airports, railroads, roads and docks. The local g
overnment may invest a lot in building and landscaping amusement parks and other
amenities in order to attract more tourists. Local people benefit a lot from th
ese improvements.
Finally, tourism is an important way to promote international understanding and
friendship between people of different countries. Some foreigners, after visitin
g China, say that they are deeply impressed by what they have seen in China and
that China today is quite different from what they thought before.
With the rich touring resources in our country and the obvious advantages of tou
rism, I believe tourism will be surely further developed. It will not only play
an increasingly important role in our economic development, but also serve as a
friendly link between Chinese people and peoples of different nations.
