ong desire for and improper use of money may drive one mad and irrational, leadi
ng to disaster finally. My opinion is that money is very important, but it canno
t bring everything.
There is no doubt that we can hardly manage to live without money. Money i
s very important. With it we can buy large houses, delicious and nutritious food
s, fine clothing and fancy cars. And with all this, we can surely live happily a
nd comfortably. But there are still things that money cannot buy, such as health
and friendship. For an affluent person suffering from an incurable disease, mon
ey cannot make him healthy again, and thus he can never gain happiness. A m
illionaire without true friends would feel lonely and sad. Besides, money obtain
ed by illegal means such as gambling or cheating may encourage one to go astray.
;
Therefore, we cannot expect money to bring us everything. Only when we ear
n our money by honest means and spend it for the benefit of others as well, can
we feel true happiness.
【模拟训练参考作文44】The Part of the Newspaper I Read More Often
[C
S]
The part of the newspaper I read more often is the current events. The rea
sons why I like to read this part are as follows:
First, since modern world is changing rapidly, it is important for me to k
now what are happening all over the world every day. Reports on various fields c
an not only enrich our knowledge, but also help us to decide what we will do in
our lives, or vocations. For instance, last year, I read the news about shortage
of employees with good command of English. So I decided to major in English at
the university.
Secondly, I live on the campus and have little chance to watch TV, as ther
e is no TV set in our dormitory. The only way to keep pace with the outside worl
d is by reading newspapers. As for sports and entertainment, I can go to movies
and gyms as often as I like. They are not so important as current events in the
newspaper.
Thirdly, current events always attract concern from people in a country. F
or example, a few months ago, I read the news that China would join WTO. I becam
e excited and read reports about it every day. Though I lived on campus, I could
feel the enthusiasm of all people throughout the country. I was really looking
forward to the day when our country succeeds in entering the organization.
In a word, I read the current events more often. I think this is a right c
hoice. I am sure it can do me a lot of good in the long run.
There is a remedy for all things but death.
除死之外,一切都有补救办法。
【模拟训练参考作文45】My View on Opportunity
People have different views on opportunity. Some think that opportunities
are so rare that only the luckiest people can get them. Others argue that everyo
ne has opportunity at one time or another in his or her life. As far as I am con
cerned, I agree with the latter.
It is true that there are opportunities everywhere for everybody. For example, A
braham Lincoln, Mark Twain and Thomas Edison achieved great success in their liv
es though they had very little schooling. What they had in common was that they
kept on working hard, and at last opportunities favored them, thus they became U
S President, writer and inventor respectively. This shows that “success belongs
to the persevering.” As a proverb says, “Diligence is the mother of good luck
