in face of failure. Instead, they stick to their aim, without caring about how m

I am in favor of the latter attitude toward failure.
As the familiar proverb goes, failure is the mother of success. All great people
owe their successes to their constant efforts. And unexceptionally all have exp
erienced certain failures before they made any accomplishments. Thomas Edison, g
reat American inventor, is an excellent example. Most of his inventions were the
results of hundreds of experiments. Once, when he had made 8,000 tests without
success, an assistant asked him if he was discouraged. He replied “ Why should

feel discouraged? We’ve made a lot of progress. At least we now know 8,000 thin
gs that will not work.” He experienced numberless failures all his life ever si

the way to success is full of various difficulties and obstacles. But failure re
ally teaches success.
In brief, failure is the only highroad to success. As college students, we
may face various failures in future, but we should not be frightened or discour
aged. And only successes achieved after many failures are really valuable and pr
aiseworthy.

severe enough to deter the violators. As a result, some markets are swarming wit
h such fakes as phony foodstuff, clothing, and even medicine.
Fake commodities are extremely harmful to customers as well as to the soci
ety. For instance, some people dreaming of becoming rich overnight a few years a
go, were making fake medicine, which resulted in the loss of many lives, causing
great sufferings to many victims. The incident exerted a terrible influence on
customers. The fear of buying fake commodities is plunging people into worry, co
nfusion and panic; they have no sense of safety. People even dare not buy the ge
nuine products of the same brand. The production and sale caused a great loss to
or even ruined the producers of the genuine products.
It is really high time that our government should take some measures to pr
event the production and sale of fake products. Anyone who produces or sells fak
e or poorquality commodities should be punished severely. Besides, people shou
