【模拟训练参考作文51】Private Cars Should Not Be Encouraged.
The number of private cars is on the rise in our country. Some people thin
k that private cars should be encouraged. Others argue that private cars should
not be encouraged. I think that too many private cars may create endless problem
s though they bring much convenience and comfort.
First, cars often produce air pollution and fill the cities with unbearabl
e noises. Second, Most of the important cities in the world suffer from traffic
congestion. In fact any advantage gained in comfort is often cancelled out in ci
ty by the frustration caused by traffic jams, endless queues of cars crawling bu
mpe
r to bumper through all the main streets. Third, to own a private car in China w
ill not only cost you a fortune, but also bring you all kinds of trouble: gettin
g a license plate, keeping the machine in good maintenance, finding a parking pl
ace at night, etc. What is worse, cars are the main cause of traffic accidents.
All over the world thousands upon thousands of people are killed or injured ever
y year. Traffic accidents caused by cars not only bring deaths and injury, but a
lso make people suffer mentally and physically. In addition, our country has a v
ery large population. If everyone had a car, all roads would be crowded with car
s!
Therefore, I think the number of private cars should be limited. We should try t
o find a safer means of transport that will bring joy and comfort rather than in
jury and death.
【模拟训练参考作文52】On Unpunctualness
[ST][WT5BZ〗〖HTK〗
Wisdom in the mind is better than money in the hand.
胸中有知识,胜于手中有金钱。
A punctual person is in the habit of doing something at the exact time arr
anged beforehand, and is never late in keeping an appointment. An unpunctual per
son, on the other hand, never does what he has to do at the proper time. He is a
lways in a hurry and in the end loses both time and trust.
As a proverb says, “Time flies never to be recalled.” This is true. If
we lose something, we may find it again. But lost time can never be regained. In
fact, time itself is life. So wasting others’ time is the same as taking away t
ime from others’ life.
Failure to be punctual in keeping one’s appointment is a sign of disrespect towa
rd others. If a person is invited to a dinner and arrives later than the appoint
ed time, he keeps all the other guests waiting. This is a great discourtesy towa
rd both the guests and the host.
Unpunctuality, moreover, is very harmful to one’s duty. Imagine how it would be
if those who are entrusted with important tasks fail to be at the right place at
the appointed time. A man known to be habitually unpunctual is seldom trusted b
y others. And he will lose friends.
【模拟训练参考作文53】Reading Selectively or Extensively
Different people have different views on reading. Some believe that reading sele
ctively is more beneficial. They have several reasons for this. First, as countl
ess books are published each year due to the development of science and technolo
gy, one’s time and energy do not allow them to read all of them. Second, it is u
n
necessary for one to read so many books which neither interest them nor have any
thing to do with their work. Besides, reading selectively may enable one to focu
